Central Ohio Youth for Christ has pioneered an intensive, neighborhood-based approached to youth ministry in the Franklinton neighborhood in Columbus. Its community center houses several programs oriented to grow kids spiritually, relationally, and educationally. Its City Life JV program garnered first place in Ohio—out of 102 entries—in the 2005 Partners in Transformation awards program. In conjunction with Starling Middle School and the Franklin County Juvenile Justice Programs Unit, the initiative engages students in a variety of in- and out-of-school educational, recreational, and spiritual activities aimed at helping these youth to embrace positive values, grow in their sense of self-worth, and achieve their dreams.
