Second Genesis won first prize for Arkansas in the 2005 Partners in Transformation awards program for its effective ministry to female ex-offenders. A former prison chaplain who was discouraged at the high recidivism rates she witnessed launched the ministry. She knew that women needed a fresh start—with new relationships, a new environment, and new skills—in order to successfully reintegrate into mainstream society. Thus Second Genesis, an intensive residential program, was born.
